“LORDS OF AUTUMN” Natural Materials Carpet-Making Contest

On the first weekend of October, Pakruojis Manor invites you to the colourful autumn event “BAROQUE AUTUMN”, where gifts from nature will be transformed into impressive works of art, compositions inspired by Baroque ornaments, and luxurious creations.

We invite you to be part of this special event and unleash your creativity by taking part in the “LORDS OF AUTUMN” Natural Materials Carpet-Making Contest. As part of the competition, colourful compositions will be created using fruits, vegetables, leaves, flowers, moss, stones, and other natural materials. Each carpet will tell its own unique story, reflect the theme of the contest, and show just how much beauty can be created from simple gifts of nature.

CONTEST PROCEDURE

THE CONTEST WILL TAKE PLACE: on 3 October 2026, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, on the banks of the Kruoja River, next to the Mill House Hotel.

REGISTRATION: by 27 September 2026.

TEAM SIZE: up to 5 people.

COMPOSITION SIZE: 2.50 × 2.50 m. The composition may be three-dimensional; there is no height limit.

MATERIALS FOR THE CARPET

Autumn gifts from nature — fruits and vegetables (which must make up at least 40% of the total composition area), flowers, and anything that naturally grows or can be found in nature: branches, tree bark, stones, moss, etc.

Participants are responsible for providing all materials and supplies needed to create their carpet.

IMPORTANT: Choose materials and fastening methods that will help the carpet retain its decorative appearance for as long as possible.

  • Materials and other props used in the composition will not be returned to participants.

WE PROVIDE

  • A prepared space for creating the composition
  • Lunch for each team member at the inn
  • Admission to the “BAROQUE AUTUMN” festival
  • Each team will receive EUR 50, which can be used to purchase materials, cover travel expenses, and other needs.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The compositions will be judged by festival guests, who will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite work, as well as by an expert jury.

From 3:00 PM — judging of the compositions.
At 4:00 PM — announcement of the winners on the stage of the Main Manor House.

  • Compatibility of the materials used
  • Durability (stability)
  • Three-dimensionality of the composition

1st Place Winners — EUR 300

2nd Place Winners — EUR 200

3rd Place Winners — EUR 100

Winners of the “People’s Choice Award” — invitations to the Grill Feast.

Winners of the “Most Aristocratic Composition” category — dinner at the restaurant of the Manor’s Central Palace.

There will be no losers! All other participants will receive a certificate of appreciation for taking part in the contest, as well as invitations to the magical winter festival at the manor — “THE KINGDOM OF CHRISTMAS.”
