Taiwan Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble
June 13, 6:00 PM
A uniquely composed ensemble – string quartet, harp, and clarinet – invites you to immerse yourself in the colorful musical worlds of Taiwan.
Hao-Tun Teng, concertmaster of the National Symphony Orchestra and a laureate of international competitions, has assembled the Taiwan Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble from the orchestra’s most distinguished musicians, all of whom studied at prestigious U.S. institutions such as the New England Conservatory and the Universities of Michigan, Maryland, and Indiana.
This exceptional chamber ensemble, featuring a string quartet, harp, and clarinet, promises vivid and unforgettable musical experiences, including a world premiere! The program will feature “Enchanted Forest Whispers” by award-winning composer and pianist Ching-Mei Lin – a piece written for string quartet and harp.
This remarkable guest ensemble presents a rare opportunity to hear motifs from Taiwanese folk music and to discover still lesser-known composers from Taiwan. A delightful surprise awaits at the concert’s conclusion: as a symbol of heartfelt friendship and freedom, the musicians will offer their own interpretation of Juozas Naujalis’ “Dream.”
